Ongoing Discussion of Voghji River Basin Management Plan
On July 31, 2014 was held a consultation with stakeholders of the “Clean Energy and Water” project, which aims to introduce the stakeholders the natural and anthropogenic pressures and impacts specified during the development of Voghji river basin management plan, as well as the possible environmental and socio economic impacts of the basin management planning process, clarify with participants a variety of information, which is reflected in the program. The event was held in the conference hall of the Southern Water Basin Territorial Administration of the staff of the Water Resources Management Agency of the RA Ministry of Nature
Representatives of governmental, non-governmental organizations, enterprises and media were invited to the discussion.During the discussion were specified a lot of data, information about the geographic names, anthropogenic factors of the water basin pollution and tailing damps.
In the expectation to be included in the program offers were made on the ways of reducing harmful anthropogenic factors. Especially was mentioned about the unacceptable volumes of water taken from Voghji River by the “ZCMC” and “Kapan Energy” SNCOs, as a result of which the river is dried up.
Note that as a result of the alarm, in the event following days actions were taken to ensure the environmental flows of the Voghji River. The experts were satisfied with the recommendations and information provided for the correction of inaccuracies.
