Melikgyugh issues in the focus of attention of journalists and environmentalists

This year on March 28, public hearings of professional conclusion, public opinion, state agencies and affected community heads’ opinion over amended environmental part of the new tailing dump project of Tukhmanuk gold mine submitted by Mego Gold LLC were held in Melikgyugh village of RA Aragatsotn Region.
As long as the community is waiting for the Environment Ministry’s decision on the construction of the new tailing dump, the village’s problems are remaining in the focus of attention both the media and Aparan Aarhus Centre.

of the municipality, the villagers as well as the Aarhus Centre Coordinator over the third tailing dump construction and Tukhmanuk mine exploitation in general (tailings are mixed with the irrigation waters, the tailings dam is constructed not 800 meters far from the village, but in a distance of 400 meters, the company has not implemented recultivation works of the currently inactive tailings dump, at the company’s approved mining project is not represented the content of heavy metals in tailings, the mine is operated not in closed, but in open cast method), as well as the counterarguments of the director of “Global Gold Mining” company are presented in the article of the journalist of “Liberty TV”, which is available in the link below:
