Energy Saving Day in Yeghvard
One of the main topics of events of Yeghvard Aarhus center is energy saving, which has been always referred by the center. The center collaborated and supported the SPARE school project, workshops and events. On 11 November, the energy saving day the coordinator and volunteer of the center visited Yeghvard 3rd primary school for presenting the theme of the day: to draw attention to the usage of resources and development of renewable energy sources.
November 11 was declared as international energy saving day with “School Project for Application of Resources and Energy» (SPARE) initiative.
The decision was confirmed in April, 2008 in Kazakhstan by the coordinators of SPARE international conference.
The decision was confirmed by a number of countries and got international status. The main goal of celebrating the day is to draw public attention to the rational use of resources and the development of renewable energy sources. Energy efficiency will reduce environmental pollution. Furthermore, energy efficiency is economically profitable. It requires 2-3 times less expensive price than energy production and delivery. Moreover, the simplest and most basic resources are available to everyone and can be used to daily life. In all countries where the holiday is celebrated through outreach activities.
After presenting school pupils had an interesting discussion not only about the theoretical issues of energy saving and efficiency, but about methods of making devices and mechanisms too.
They told that International day of Energy efficiency they’ve visited all school classes and refer all pupils within a 10 minutes restore their household electricity,they ask all of them to turned out all electrical equipments,in that way,try to be involved of keeping efficient use of resources and cost savings. Youngsters also have their statements which was spread in different streets of Yeghvard.They refer people to join the action.The most appreciable fact is young people’s awareness of environmental issues.As a available sources of ecological information was mentioned internet and literature, especially specialized news sites, including www.aarhus.am.
