Nature’s revenge: Yeghegnadzor
On October 19, Yeghegnadzor Aarhus Center has screened the “Nature’s revenge” movie about the mining industry in Vayk Community Center.
The goal of the film screening was to present human destinies affected by mining industry, a series of cases on violated environmental norms and legislative gaps.
Before the film screening Yeghegnadzor Aarhus Center Coordinator presented the Center’s activities and the pillars of the Aarhus Convention.
After screening the film, were discussed the challenges that may arise in case of mines operation and increasing those number.
The participants raised issues on Azatek gold mine exploitation and mines development mechanisms. Proper answers were given to the questions, as well as were discussed those legislative provisions, which were related to the voiced issues.
The participants were presented the need of public participate in decision-making processes, as well as how to obtain information under the Aarhus Convention, who are the providers of that information and possessing that information how can they participate and negotiate at the same table when arise or may be arisen certain environmental issues.
