The Aarhus center mediated for the formation of cooperation between the NGOs and the local government
The purpose of the round table held in Alaverdi Aarhus Center on September 29 was once again to stress the importance of public participation in environmental decision-making processes and raise the awareness level. The participants were the president and the members of the newly created “New Alaverdi” NGO, Alaverdy city mayor and deputy mayor.
The coordinator of the Aarhus center said that the youth activism, the activities of the NGO and the cooperation framework have an important role in solving community problems and for the community development.
Although it was not for the first time that the Alavardei city new mayor met the members of “New Alaverdi” NGO, he again noted the importance of the role of young people, thier participatory and constructive activity. The mayor represented that environmental issues are priorities for him. He urged to be constantly active and consistent, not to be limited and to involve many young people as possible and approach to any issue critically and compassionately. He also noted that healthy criticism and demands will only lead to productive and mutually beneficial activities.
The young people asked the mayor to establish a youth center, claiming that only the Aarhus Centre is not enough, because there are social, economic, cultural and tourist issues chained with the environment. The proposal was welcomed and approved by the mayor. After having discussed several issues, the mayor provided the city previous “Pioneer House” building to the “New Alaverdi” NGO.
The community issues related to ye environment and the environment protection were discussed. They talked about the environmental subvention reset in 2016. The NGO members have said that they are carrying out works in order to give specific solutions to community problems through grant project.
