An event covering the Aarhus Convention and the RA environmental legislative field in Vayk
On September 18, the coordinators of Shirak and Yeghegnadzor Aarhus Centers visited the city of Vayk. The aim was to present the Aarhus Convention and the international agreements.
Gevorg Petrosyan, coordinator of Gyumri Aarhus Center, “Assist the government and civil society in resolving environmental issues, strengthening the capacities of the state agencies and CSOs in the implementation of the Aarhus Convention” project manager’s assistant presented a presentation for the local community and civil society representatives.
The latter introduced the environmental management and legislative field in Armenia, statutory obligations of local authorities and the Aarhus Convention.The participants raised the issue on the mechanisms of using water resources by SHPPs, those positive and negative aspects and the effective operation of mines.
The participants discussed the experience of other countries, as well as its applicability in our country.
There were clarified the provisions enshrined by the law, which are related to the charges established for the use of resources and damage caused to the environment.
Yeghegnadzor Aarhus Center will continue the implementation of similar measures in other communities of Vayots Dzor as well.
