Meeting with students of Stepanavan Agricultural College
On June 2, Stepanavan Aarhus Center organized a meeting with students of the Agricultural College. At the beginning Manya Melikjanyan, Stepanavan Aarhus Center Coordinator pointed out that the June 2 was adopted as the Protection Day of Kura-Araks, adding that residents of Stepanavan have a lot to do for protection of Kura-Araks, as the waters of Dzoraget River, blending with Debed, are flowing into the Kura river.
Then the coordinator introduced the audience the history of the Aarhus Convention, the ratification process of the Aarhus Convention by Armenia, marked the importance of not only joining the Convention but also implementing its pillars.
After a brief discussion, the participants came to the conclusion that every citizen, relying on the pillars of the Aarhus Convention, should be active in environmental conservation, be informed, participate in the decision-making process, if necessary, have opportunity to access to justice.
Taking into account the advice of the day, special attention was paid to the issues of water conservation; were spoken about water purity, savings and its importance.
