Fish declining case in Aparan reservoir: What is the reason?
Recently, Aparan Aarhus Centre received a call about the fact that a large number of dead fish was observed at the coastal parts of Aparan reservoir in Aragatsotn region.
On May 27, in order to ascertain the situation the centre organized a visit to the reservoir.
During the visit it was turned out that the alarm signal on the massive decline of fish was true.
At the western part of the reservoir (coastal land bordering Quchak village) there was really a large amount of dead fish (carp, crucian).
The conversation with fishermen revealed that it’s been about a week now since this phenomenon has been
observed. It should be noted that there was no dead fish on the east coast of the reservoir.
The fishermen in this part of the reservoir had not noticed anything extraordinary.
The Aarhus Centre has applied on the issue to appropriate government agencies to obtain reliable information on the causes of this phenomenon and in order to provide it to residents.
